Yearn to slow down and fully enjoy summer? I will share lots of great ideas Thursday, June 30, 11 am Pacific Time, 2 pm Eastern Time in the U.S., in a Slow Down for Summer webinar hosted by KaBOOM!, an organization that supports play and helps communities erect great playspaces.
Games, crafts, activities, and more will be covered. You’ll come away with fun, simple and inexpensive ideas for making the most of your family time and the season.
In, addition, I’m giving away four signed copies of CEO Darell Hammond‘s New York Times bestseller, Kaboom: How One Man Built a Movement to Save Play. To enter in a random drawing for the books, leave a comment here about your favorite way to play (and let me know if you’d like to sign up for my email list) or sign up to receive occasional Slow Family email news in the right column of my blog and leave a comment here that you did. (If you’re already a subscriber, and you wish to be entered in the drawing, leave me a comment and let me know.) Entries are due by Midnight, Eastern Time. June 29th.
You can also register for the webinar in advance.
Happy Summer!

I’m ready to slow down for summer but have been a busy bee trying to promote my debut picture book about…PLAY! I’m hoping that “The Busy Life of Ernestine Buckmeister” puts play back on every child (and adult’s) agenda!
I like to play hopscotch at the beach!
Have a great webnar!
I love to play in the pool with my husband and new baby girl!
Linda Ravin Lodding – if you need someone to give your new book a review…we would love to! http://glenandsarahburk.blogspot.com/
Susan – I don’t need anymore emails…but I will definitely subscribe to your lovely blog!
Hi Linda and Sarah! I’m so glad to see you here, new visitors! Thank you both for the kind words about my blog. Linda, your books look lovely! Your biography is fascinating. We loved all the same children’s books as kids, too.
Sarah, congrats on your little one. She is so cute! Reading your blog really took me back to the days when my daughter was teeny. Wonderful that you and your folks are all enjoying her so much.
Truly, thanks again both. I’ll enter you both in the drawing for the book. I deeply appreciate the comments and am thrilled for these new connections. I also second hopscotch and water play!
Cheers!
Susan, I’ve been checking in for quite some time now. Your posts are touching and inspiring. I would love to be entered in Darrell Hammond’s book drawing. His book has gotten rave reviews.
In spring at our house, our favorite playtime is woods exploration, hiking and climbing. Recently, my girls and I have been working on handmade bird guides. Such a great family activity for all and gets us outside, yet actively listening and focused.
Thanks for the book drawing opportunity,
Marcie
u go girl!
Hi Marcie! I’m so glad you visited! Thank you for your kind comment. Your blog is truly lovely — the photography is gorgeous, the information is great and the whole effort is just infused with a wonderful spirit. It’s an immediate favorite. I’m so glad Darrell’s book and work speaks to you, too, and will happily enter you in the drawing.
In addition, I also discovered birding, relatively recently. I love it for the same reasons you mention. I did a post about our involvement in the Great Backyard Bird Count. I look forward to lots more connection between us. Please stay in touch and I’ll do the same.
Thank you for your thoughtful note. Let’s certainly keep in touch. I would just love that.
Hi Kath! It’s always wonderful to see you. You are such a supportive kindred spirit. I’m so happy for you that your practice is going so well and that you’re able to help people and educate them about acupuncture for MS and other issues. I know that we’ll be staying in touch! :)
We love to play outside with the new puppy and participate in our scouting activities. We’re working on our God and Country this summer as well as the BSA Family award.
Hi Couellette! Welcome to the blog. Nothing like a new puppy to get you playing outside. That’s great! Wonderful that you’re working on the BSA awards, too. That’s a great summer project. Best of luck with them!
Congratulations to the winners of the autographed copies of “Kaboom: How One Man Built a Movement to Save Play.” They are:

Thank you all for entering. I hope you’ll read this inspiring book and enjoy play time with your families, friends and self!
